Stag's Leap Vineyards came to prominence in the early 70's when Warren brought is best Cabernet Sauvignon wine (Cask 23) to Paris and put it up against the First Growth wines of Bordeaux (Chateau Margaux, Chateau Latour, etc). In a blind tasting with the French Press in attendance his wine came top and instantly the whole of Europe was forced to take Californian wine as seriously as their own.
